- Emma married within a year of her father's death on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Her wedding was the biggest of the season. Her train had lavender underneath it as a "bow to the fact that her father had died." Edith and Doris Pilling were bridesmaids.
Emma died of a heart attack while staying with her daughter, Cathy in Toronto.
