People in the picture from left to right:

Henry, Robert, Mary, Alvina, Martha, Annie, Clark, Adam, Ellen, Alice and Jim.

This was written on the back of the picture, again from the perspective of Alvina's descendents:

"This picture was taken in approx 1879 of Grandpa and Grandma Hoover where all 13 of their children were born (10 grew up to maturity). Grandma and Grandpa were married in 1851 (May 19th). Their log shanty was built in 1849 or 1850 when Grandpa got his Crown Grant from the Government of Canada as a United Empire Loyalist. When this picture was taken, mother was about 10 years old. She is standing next to her sister with the white apron on. Aunt Jane Auld was already married and not present when this picture was taken."
