- From the Bobbitt Family in America
Martha E. Bobbitt, daughter of Henry and Margaret Taylor, was born in Randolph County, Indiana, October 12, 1855. Of the family of eleven children, three brothers and five sisters survive her.
She was united in marriage in 1873 to George Bobbitt and for 58 years they traveled life's pathway together. To this union was born fifteen children. Six sons, Jesse, Charles, Louis, Judson, William, and Cleve; three daughters Mrs. Ola Brakeall of Xenia, Mrs. Grover Dennis of New Vienna, and Mrs. Fred Rulon of Cincinnati, together with the husband are left to mourn her departure. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
She was united with the Cowen's Creek Baptist Church during the ministry of Reverend Crosby.
Her entire life, with the exception of five years, was spent in the vicinity of Snow Hill, and today her soul has passed over the hill-tops into the valley of Peace to reap the reward of humble service to God and humanity. Her heart was in her home, and here, she has left a precious inheritance, the blessed memory of a devoted wife and mother.
During her last illness of several weeks she was cared for at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grover Dennis at New Vienna, and on Tuesday evening, March 17, 1931, she peacefully passed away at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
