  • Notes
    • His parents were born in Virginia. Isaiah was from Sandusky, Ohio. He could not read or write. He and Mary were living in Lynchburg, Ohio in 1900. At that time they had a daughter, Mary A., living with them (probably daughter-in-law) whose only living child, Everett was living there also. (Mary A. was probably the widow of Joseph or Isaac.) According to his gravestone, Isaiah served during the Civil War in Co. E of the 168th Ohio Infantry.

Research: Census also shows a Mary A. Pitzer, b. Nov 1861, Ohio with son Everett b. Dec 1881 living with the family. Relationship unknown. 1850/60/70 Census shows Jacob and Catherine Pitzer both born in Virginia, probably his parents. There is a Berkeley, Co., Virginia marriage record for: Jacob m. Cath. Specht, 8 Sept 1823, John Pitzer (suretor). John appears to have been Jacob's brother (from birth years on their gravestones). His wife's name was Elizabeth. Jacob & Catherine, John & Elizabeth, and a number of other Pitzers are buried in the F&AM Cemetery in Lynchburg.
