      Nov. 10, 1925 — June 8, 2009

      Marion Charles "Charlie" Bishir, 83, Marion, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 in Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion to the late Charles and Myrtle (Shirley) Bishir. He is survived by his faithful wife, Carolyn S. Bishir, after 55 years of marriage.

      Charlie retired from Dana Corp after 30 years. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a member of the Amboy American Legion. He attended West Eighth Street Wesleyan Church. He loved his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and loving wife. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, gardening and berry picking.

      Survivors include wife, Carolyn Smith; daughters, Shirley (Geno) Miller, Vicky Yeakle, Cindy (Richard) Wilkes, and Teresa Rigney; sons, James M. (Dorothy) Bishir, Charles (Catherine) Bishir, and Terry (Karen) Bishir; sister, Willowdean (Frank) Purvis; brother, Merrill (Barbara) Bishir; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ed and Myrtle Bishir; son, Charles Russell Bishir; daughter, Janice Ashley; grandson, Charles M. Bishir; granddaughter, Taylor Caroline Wilkes; brothers, Bob and Delbert Bishir; sister, Margie Worden; and nephew, Richard G. Arnold.

      Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 North Baldwin Avenue, Marion with Rev. Ben Gray officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

      Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. And 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

      Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent Hospital.
