      DEATH TAKES G. W. HARKEY
      Death came today to George Wilson Harkey, 82 pioneer rancher and church leader
      Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M Friday from the First Christian Church followed by burial at Ivy Lawn, Elders of the church will serve as Pall bearers. Oliver L. Reardon and Sons are in Charge of arrangements.
      Mr. Harkey, who died at 6;30 a.m. today at a local hospital, is survived by two nieces, Maude L. Starks of Ventura and Mary E. Donahoo of Santa Paula; two nephews, James and Martin Hatcher of Santa Paula; two cousins, Mrs Dora Harrison of Piedmont and Dr. Frank Bonnell of hollister; four great nieces, Lenamae Griffiths and Mary Louise, Ida Mae and Dorothy Hatcher of Santa Paula.
      Born February 12, 1859 in Sonoma County, Mr. Harkey came to Ventura County with his parents in 1869, settling in Pleasant Valley, then a part of Santa Barbara County.
      Later the family moved to the Mound district where Mr. Harkey and his father engaged in farming. Mr . Harkey retired in 1918 when he moved from his ranch to 767 E. Santa Clara Street, Ventura where he had resided ever since.
      Mr. Harkey was instrumental in erecting the present First Christian Church in memory of his father. IT was named the J. S. Harkey Memorial Christian Church
