- Obituary, Ventura County [CA] Star, February 6, 1953:??FUNERAL TOMORROW FOR CRASH VICTIM?Funeral services are scheduled tomorrow for Martin Van Buren Hatcher, 52, of 427 Ojai Road, Santa Paula, who died of injuries suffered in a head on auto collision Sunday on Highway 99 north of Castaic Junction.??The services will be at 10 a.m. at the Memory chapel of the H. B. Skillin mortuary Santa Paula , with the Rev. Harris W. Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Bardsdale cemetery, beside his wife who died in 1950.??Mr Hatcher, a ranch worker and life-long resident of Ventura county died Wednesday at Newhall community hospital. Reported in serious condition at the hospital was Curtis S. Archer of Santa Paula, a passenger in Mr. Hatcher's car. The car collided head-on with an auto driven by William Simpkins, 40, of Bakersfield, who with his wife, Frieda, 38, was injured also.??Mr. Hatcher leaves three daughters, Mrs Mary L. Slater, Bellflower, and Mrs Ida Mae Hayes and Miss Dorothy Hatcher, both of Santa Paula, a son Martin W. of Gilroy: a sister Mrs Mary Donahoo, Santa Paula and a brother James H. of Santa Paula.
