FORMER HAMILTONIAN
WINS HISTORY PRIZE
Mrs. Estyl Bishire, nee Alma Cox, formerly of Hamilton, now of Detroit, Mich., won first prize
in that city in the Hearst Historical contest conducted by a newspaper Syndicate throughout the United States. Mrs. Bishire's book was judged in Detroit by Mayor Smith, Superintendent of Schools Cody and Judge Jayner. From there it was sent to Chicago where it was adjudged to be the best in the city of Detroit. Dr. Edward Hesselberg of Chicago won the same prize as Mrs. Bishire, fur his book in Chicago.
Mrs. Bishire is a niece of former Governor James M. Cox, Dayton. Mrs. Louisa Meyer, North Sixth street is an aunt of Mrs. Bishire's The winner of this noted prize received her early education in the Hamilton schools. [6]
