- The following history was given by Mrs. Veatrice Foster, 13518 Skyline Blvd, Waterford, CA 95386 in 1978 to
Richard Lee came to Kentucky about 1790 or so. Was in Pulaski, or bought land there in that year. He was in the 1820 Census in Madison, Kentucky. Elizabeth was administrator of his estate Feb 24, 1820 in Richmond, Madison, Kentucky. He had 16 children names as heirs in a suit over land from Stephen Walker heirs, which he purchased, (the deed of property was either lost or not given him) a few years before his death. Since neither William nor Charles Lee were mentioned in the will, I presume they were not his children as some claim.
Many of the Lee family dispute that Richard Lee (b/d 31 Jul 1753) was the son of Hancock Lee (b/d 1709, of Ditchely, Northumberland, Virginia). with wife Mary Willis (b/d 1716 of, Fredericksburgh, Virginia). Consensus seems to form around the possibility that he was the son of Peter Lee (1734-1793) from Buckingham Co., VA.
