Notes |
- Name may be Strode. Thomas' will mentions a "brother", Benjamin Stroads, who was probably his wife's brother. The Strode family dates back to Sir Warinus de la Strode, who was born in France about the year 1020 and served as the Lord of Strode in Dorsetshire during the reign of Henry III. Joan's parents were probably William Strode (1589-1666) and Joan Barnard (1607-1649) of Shepton Mallet, England, although the connection is unverified.
Research: Surnames of ancestors in Joan's Strode pedigree during the 13th to 15th centuries include: Boteler, Brent, de la Ford (Sir Adam b. ca 1260), de Ralegh, de Turre, de Reigny, Denebaud, Fitzsauvin, Fitzwilliam, Hone, le Eyre, le Tort,
and Montacute.
