- John Lee, with his wife and children, came from Virginia to Missouri in 1819 and this family was one of the first families of the state.
John, had enlisted for six months during the war of 1812 in the Riflemen of the 18th Virginia regiment under Capt. Abram Staples, returning home to Patrick County, Va., where he and Sarah had lived from 1805.
Priscilla was the 2nd child of about 9 children.
RESEARCH: (Posted on GenForum on Oct 1, 2008, by pseaver@charter.net) John Lee & Sally Owen. Bondsman was Littleberry Owen. Witness was Banister Owen. William Lee, father of John consents. Bond: 17 oct 1807. Married 7 nov 1805 by Rev. Thomas Dobson.
A biography of John Jr. published in the late 1800s states “John Lee, Sr. was a son of Joel Lee, a soldier of the Revolution of 1776, who served under General Washington.” This conflicts with the marriage record above.
